How do you choose which style for your speech bubbles? That is, which are handwritten, and which follow the conventions of the old MAD magazine, with typesetting and emphasis?
In the beginning, I tried to limit doing typesetting to times that it felt appropriate (the E.C. Horror spoof for Karim's comic or the Anarchist's Cookbook stuff for Mike's), but eventually I started resorting to the typeset bit when I had too much type to hand-letter (my printing is big and clunky) and it's just easier to squeeze big chunks of text in using the computer.
I've made a habit of drawing short, one-page comics for important people in my life.
This is a catalog of the ones I've done so far. Click the images to enlarge.

Wow. Beautifully done.
Thanks, DB. It was fun to do.
Jeremy,
Just curious.

Thanks for asking!
Jer, I loved this, by the way, and was honored to get it in the mail! Thanks for including the Wailer in your bidness.
